A little bit of nunning to pass the time. Lovely weekend again at Tyndyrn abbey. After being educated all over the long weekend about this "chivalry" thing, @orbicusprime and I gave it a go. We might need practice. A fat rabbit failing the test of temperance (tasty berries). Doing some sampler/tapestry work to pass the time at events again. I'm now taking commissions for anything from embroidered clothing trims to arming caps. If I've made it on this page or it's a part of Medieval clothing I can probably do it for you!! After a hectic time at Evesham, it's nice to just sit back and embroider the day away. Had a lovely time at @chilternoam showing what the ladies get up to when the men are off stabbing horses or whatever it is. Shout out to my fantastic armourer, armigier and fiance for making my dreams of the bastard child of a chinstrap and a nasal a reality. Then making sure the thing was strapped on right enough for me to charge those nasty rebels. Kicking off my Evesham posts (as I'm sure there'll be many) by celebrating something I've never done before! The wonderful battle organisers gave me a chance to command the entire Royal right into glorious (un)victory at the battle of Lewes on Sunday. And I think I commanded my men into death reasonably well. Loving how my kit looks as I move deeper into portraying a knights wife and inform the public on the agency and power women had in the high medieval period. Let's never forget the self actualised women who kept the households running outside of the theatre of war. I had a fantastic time reenacting for a week straight at @chalkehistoryfestival. One of the most enjoyable and well run events I do with @chanzdesreis I'm counting down the days till we go back! What does a lords household eat in the slim season? Well dried fruits and an unlucky hen of course! Got a cool new sword today Shout out to Mark Sutherland for these awesome shots of me mid baron smacking. Stunning photos of me stumbling off the field after being Chanz's second best Huscarl axe magnet. The fit is fire. I should probably actually use the shield more though, turns out a big neon green surcoat with targets on it is poor defence. Another fun part of the weekend, getting my spurs! Another fantastic weekend at Tintern Abbey. For the most part rocking my Seneschal impression for the household of William Marshal. Serving pottage, flatbreads, Boar and fish for the holy day. Okay this is the last Evesham post. I LOVE my new surcoat so much. Hot damn I look cool. Big spear. Poke poke poke. I've yet to find a graceful way to get dressed for battle. A widow carries her husband's colours on parade. The final part of the baron slaying fit complete. Gambesoid cuisses which adds basically nothing to my armour but do have the fantastic benefit of stopping the thigh links catching on each other. I'm not used to having stuff between my thighs lol. Geoffrey Plantagenet had a pretty cool hat, so I stole it. @chalkehistoryfestival was an amazing show, can't wait to go back. And the crowd goes wild for yet another shot of me hunched over an embroidery frame :) The girdle is complete! 2 meters of embroidery based on a window I saw in the abbey of Mont Saint Michel, finished with a little dove from the Aberdeen bestiary. Entirely hand worked in crewel wool, backed with a linen buckram. Had a great time at @butserancientfarm listening to an awesome harp concert from Harriet Earis. Not me absolutely smashing the pottage. Get yourself someone who looks at you the way I look at pottage. The complete fit is complete. Throwback to 2022 with my bright green hose and the world's worst surcoat.
